He studied at La Llotja, the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, and was a pupil of the sculptor M. Fuxà. Shortly afterwards he went to Paris, where he settled for several years, during which time he took part in various exhibitions.
He was a member of the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc (Artistic Circle of Saint Luke) and participated in the exhibition organised by it at Sala Parés (Petritxol, 5) in 1908. A year later he went to Argentina where he stayed for ten years, during which he worked mainly making monuments. His sculptures, which are very small, deal with subjects to do with everyday life and work, and so reflect local customs and manners. He also made a series of figure portraits of famous Catalan people of the period, such as Count Gu?ell and Francesc Cambó, among others. Although he was better known as a sculptor, he had an early period as a painter during which he presented works at one or two exhibitions in Barcelona, although with little success.
He lived in South America from 1909 to 1918. In 1920 he made the plaster cast for the sculpture of Àngel Guimerà (Plaça de Sant Josep Oriol) according to a design by J. Puig i Cadafalch, but it was not until 1983 that the bronze figure was actually made and installed on its current site.
