Barcelona, 13.06.2014 | Published by coupDefouet
The rooms displaying the 19th- and 20th-century collections of the National Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) will be closed to the public until the end of September 2014 for refurbishment work that will culminate in a new look presentation for the works on display.
The new look presentation will extend to the 1950s and cast a more critical and complex eye on all artistic expressions from the period, including photography, poster art, cinema, architecture and the decorative arts, plus sculpture and painting. A greater focus will also be given to the rooms dedicated to the Catalan Modernista movement, 1929 World Exposition, the 1930s and the Spanish Civil War.
A selection of masterpieces from the period will be displayed in the museum´s temporary exhibition hall from 17 June to 31 August while the refurbishment work required for this new presentation is underway.
The museum´s remaining extensive permanent collections will remain open to the public.
